It has been a while since I found an inspiring Archdaily site. Those Chinese designers, architects and engineers seem to work well together. And, to call this building a chapel, with all the religious connotations, makes it even more inviting! I also see how few spectators can be accommodated at one time, although the chapel is siting right next to hyper-populated apartment towers. Privilege?
The same day, same site, an other example of how the Chinese authorities treat the art of music nowadays. Yet an other small urban space, atop a historic building, with room for a piano and some 20 or 30 seats. My cynical instincts whisper: “on n’attrape pas les mouches avec du vinaigre”! Meaning: one does not catch flies with vinegar – or: one does not appease the people of China with cheap mass entertainment any more. It takes music, quality contemporary music at that. Privilege?
